The third edition of the Qatar International Medical Exhibition and Conference (QMED) is scheduled for 2026, reinforcing its status as the country’s largest medical exhibition. The event will take place at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), occupying a 5,000 square metre exhibition space designed to bring together leading figures from the global healthcare sector.

Global Gathering of Medical Experts

Organisers expect to welcome more than 1,000 physicians and medical professionals to QMED 2026. The event will feature top companies, investors, and healthcare organisations from over 20 countries, including the US, the UK, Thailand, Malaysia, Iran, and India. Significant participation is also anticipated from regional neighbours such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain; the recently announced Qatar–Bahrain Ferry service now accessible to Non-GCC nationalities could facilitate travel for attendees.

Exhibiting companies, which include medical equipment manufacturers, healthcare service providers, and distributors, will present their latest products and technologies to Qatar’s expanding medical market.

A Platform for Industry Collaboration

Khalifa bin Salman al-Muhannadi, general manager of the organising company Souga for Exhibitions and Conferences, described the event as an “interactive platform to strengthen collaboration among healthcare leaders and experts.” He noted that the conference has gained growing attention from professionals and suppliers worldwide who gather to discuss the latest developments and best practices shaping the future of medicine.

The exhibition is also positioned as a key venue for knowledge exchange and forging new partnerships. “We are confident that QMED 2026 will play a major role in driving the growth of Qatar’s healthcare industry,” al-Muhannadi stated, highlighting the government’s continuous efforts to improve healthcare services.

International Partnerships and Support

The event’s role in fostering international ties was emphasised by Prof Marino Roberto Alzetta, secretary-general of the Italian Chamber of Co-operation. “Our partnership with QMED represents an important step toward fostering scientific, technological, and cultural exchange in healthcare,” he said. Prof Alzetta described the exhibition as a “true bridge between East and West that will strengthen international relations.” This focus on building connections aligns with broader national efforts, such as when Qatar, Kuwait discuss media co-operation to strengthen regional bonds.

The previous two editions of QMED were held under the patronage of the Ministry of Public Health and supported by Qatar Tourism, Qatar Chamber, and the Qatar Red Crescent. Strategic sponsors included Hamad Medical Corporation and the Primary Health Care Corporation, alongside key partners like Aspetar and the Qatar Free Zones Authority.

According to al-Muhannadi, the remarkable achievements of Qatar’s healthcare sector have been a primary motivation for organising the international event. He added that it serves to highlight the country’s leadership in medical innovation and service excellence within the region.
