The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in partnership with Microsoft, has launched a unified digital platform to consolidate and develop its services, aiming to improve operational excellence and support the private sector. The initiative is designed to provide more advanced digital services for both consumers and investors, marking a significant step in the country’s technological advancement.

The launch is a key part of the ministry’s efforts to accelerate the transition towards an integrated digital government. This move leverages Microsoft’s global expertise in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation to modernise public services in Qatar.

Technical Framework and User Benefits

Built using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Dynamics 365 technologies, the platform integrates more than 140 electronic services within a single digital environment in its initial phase. These services cover essential functions such as licensing, permits, and registration. The long-term plan includes adopting an integrated framework for interactive artificial intelligence to further serve the nation’s economy and business sector.

The platform is focused on improving government performance and simplifying procedures by automating daily operations and updating existing systems. This is expected to raise operational efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance institutional flexibility. It also provides ministry employees with advanced digital tools that support data-driven decision-making, alongside continuous 24/7 support from virtual assistants and services tailored to business needs.

Supporting Qatar’s National Vision

Officials stated that the project aligns directly with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy. The broader push for technological integration is reflected in other national efforts, such as when the University of Doha for Science and Technology launches digital transformation initiative.

Ahmed Ali al-Kuwari, Director of the Information Technology Department at the MoCI, called the launch a “pivotal step” in the ministry’s journey toward a more efficient digital government. He said the initiative aims to improve service quality and accelerate innovation, consolidating Qatar’s position as a regional centre for digital innovation.

Ahmed El Dandachi, General Manager of Microsoft Qatar, affirmed the company’s commitment to the highest standards of privacy and security. “The unified platform not only protects confidential data, but also provides a reliable digital environment that fosters business growth,” he stated. El Dandachi added that by enhancing trust in digital services, the initiative helps open new horizons for growth and innovation, which supports the wider Qatari economy and creates a unified investment ecosystem.

The unified platform is a key pillar within the national digital government strategy. It provides an integrated, user-focused digital experience that supports efforts to diversify the economy and promote innovation, strengthening Qatar’s regional standing in government digital transformation.
