The Qatari Businesswomen Association (QBWA) and the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) are exploring a new partnership to advance women’s empowerment and support family welfare in Qatar. The potential collaboration was discussed during a recent introductory meeting between Dr Sharifa al-Emadi, executive director of DIFI, and members of the QBWA, led by its vice chairwoman, Aisha Hussain Alfardan.
A Strategic Partnership for National Goals
Aisha Hussain Alfardan stated that the initiative is part of QBWA’s ongoing effort to build effective partnerships with institutions focused on economic and social development. She emphasised that the meeting aligns with the association’s vision to strengthen collaboration with research and academic bodies, contributing to the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
According to Alfardan, working with DIFI, a member of the Qatar Foundation, is a significant step toward connecting research, policy, and community action. She explained that QBWA aims to use its extensive network of businesswomen and professionals to support DIFI’s programmes. These initiatives are designed to promote family stability and empower women to participate more effectively in national development, which includes supporting purpose-driven entrepreneurship in Qatar.
Combining Research with Practical Action
During the meeting, Dr al-Emadi provided a comprehensive overview of DIFI’s research, programmes, and upcoming projects. She highlighted the institute’s crucial role in shaping evidence-based social policies and developing legislative proposals to protect family welfare. DIFI is committed to integrating family priorities into Qatar’s national development agenda by providing policymakers with data-driven studies and recommendations.
Dr al-Emadi praised the QBWA for its work in promoting the economic and social empowerment of women, affirming that a partnership would create a synergy between scientific research and practical implementation. This cooperation aims to ensure the well-being and cohesion of Qatari families.
Future Areas for Collaboration
Several potential areas for joint work were identified during the discussions. These include QBWA’s participation in DIFI’s research projects and its contribution to the upcoming ‘Family Welfare Conference’ scheduled for next year. The two organisations also considered jointly organising workshops and supporting social projects that economically empower women while respecting their essential family roles.
Both parties agreed to collaborate on awareness initiatives to strengthen partnerships between the public and private sectors, similar to how Invest Qatar partners with WHOOP in other sectors. The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain ongoing communication and develop a joint implementation plan. This plan will feature research and development initiatives to support Qatari families and enhance the role of women as active partners in the nation’s progress. Further details of the cooperation plan will be announced at a later date.
