The 11th session of the Supreme Strategic Committee between Qatar and Turkiye took place on 22 October 2025 in Doha, chaired by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Both countries committed to deepening cooperation in the cultural and educational fields, fostering closer ties between their peoples. This includes promoting cultural events and exchanges that celebrate their rich histories and traditions. Efforts will also be made to enhance collaboration in international cultural organisations.
Strengthening Media and Public Health Cooperation
The two sides discussed the expansion of media and public diplomacy initiatives, agreeing to share knowledge, best practices, and organise training sessions to promote mutual understanding. Additionally, public health cooperation remains a priority, with plans to activate joint programs and agreements aimed at strengthening the health sector.
Defence, Youth, and Labour Cooperation
Bilateral defence cooperation remains a cornerstone of the relationship, with both countries focused on enhancing military training, exercises, and logistics support. Similarly, the youth and sports sector continues to see strong collaboration, with a formal programme in place for 2025-2026. Cooperation in labour and employment was also reinforced, with both sides emphasising the importance of further development in these areas.
Humanitarian and Security Efforts
Qatar and Turkiye highlighted their continued commitment to humanitarian initiatives, particularly in relation to the Gaza crisis. Both nations reaffirmed their support for the Palestinian cause, including a shared condemnation of Israel’s recent actions against Qatar. In addition, discussions on security cooperation centred on enhancing training, law enforcement, and knowledge exchange through established protocols.
Climate Change and Regional Security
Addressing environmental challenges remains a priority for both Qatar and Turkiye. The two countries committed to further collaboration on climate change, focusing on both bilateral efforts and international platforms. They also discussed ongoing regional security issues, particularly the crisis in Gaza, with a strong call for international cooperation on reconstruction efforts.
Looking Ahead
As the session concluded, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting peace and stability in the region. The 12th session of the Supreme Strategic Committee is scheduled to take place in Turkiye in 2026. President Erdogan expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by Qatar, marking another milestone in the growing partnership between the two nations.
