The summit saw prominent participation from heads of state, government leaders, and representatives from international and regional organisations. Notable attendees included HE Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and HE Li Junhua, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, along with senior Qatari officials and United Nations representatives.

During his address, Dr. Al Hammadi expressed Qatar’s pride in hosting the summit, which marked 30 years since the first social summit held in Copenhagen. He emphasized that Qatar’s role as host reflects the country’s commitment to inclusive, sustainable social development and multilateral cooperation aimed at advancing social justice and well-being for all. Al Hammadi noted that the summit provided a crucial platform for advancing global dialogue on social development and accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

He also highlighted the growing strategic partnership between Qatar and the United Nations, underscored by the opening of the UN House in Doha. This partnership illustrates Qatar’s position as a trusted ally in supporting global efforts led by the international body.

The ceremony featured a spectacular parachute display organised by the Education Above All Foundation, in collaboration with Qatar’s Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and the Qatar Air Sports Committee. Parachutists soared above Doha, carrying banners that promoted the Sustainable Development Goals. The event concluded with the raising of both the Qatari and United Nations flags by Lekhwiya and UN security personnel, accompanied by celebratory music performed by the Lekhwiya band. This symbolic moment reflected the enduring partnership between Qatar and the UN and their shared dedication to promoting inclusive and sustainable social development.
