Abu Dhabi Ports Group has partnered with China’s state-owned SPG Yantai Port to organise vehicle trade between China and the Middle East by establishing green automotive business parks.

The agreement will see the two organisations develop and operate a bilateral terminal and a network of automotive hubs. This network will connect the Asia-Pacific Green Automotive Circular Economy Industrial Park in Yantai, Shandong, with AD Ports Group’s terminals in the UAE.

A New Logistics Corridor

The partnership aims to create a more efficient supply chain for both new and second-hand vehicles by leveraging the combined infrastructure and market positions of Abu Dhabi and China. The two entities will also explore the possibility of establishing a comprehensive automotive logistics corridor linking China, the Middle East, and Africa.

The development of advanced auto hubs integrated into ports will be considered, potentially using AI-driven technologies to improve operational efficiency. The project will also include an exploration of sustainable energy initiatives to support its “green” objectives.

Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime and Shipping Cluster at AD Ports Group, commented on the strategic importance of the deal. “The development of integrated green automotive industrial parks will elevate Abu Dhabi’s role as a key hub for the automotive market,” he said.

He added that the initiative will contribute to economic diversification, support a circular economy, and create “sustainable value for customers across Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.”
