On World Mental Health Day, Bollywood actresses Rhea Chakraborty, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Inayat Sood collaborated on a heartfelt video message encouraging people to accept vulnerability and acknowledge that it is okay to struggle. The actresses used their social media platforms to promote a message of self-compassion and emotional honesty.
Embracing Imperfection
In a video shared on Instagram, the actresses took turns addressing the camera to destigmatise common feelings of failure and exhaustion. “It’s okay to fail, and it’s okay to not be okay,” began Fatima Sana Shaikh, reminding viewers that setbacks are a natural part of life.
Rhea Chakraborty, who has previously been vocal about her own experiences with resilience, added to the theme. “It’s okay to be vulnerable, it’s okay to stay in bed and not be your perfect self every day,” she said. Their message resonates as more prominent figures in the Indian film industry use their influence to discuss important social issues.
Inayat Sood, known for her roles in Scoop and De De Pyaar De, completed the message by focusing on the importance of rest. “It’s okay to give up, it’s okay to take a break, it’s okay to not want to do anything,” she stated.
Chakraborty posted the collaborative video with the simple caption, “It’s ok to not be ok. #WorldMentalHealthDay.”
The initiative aligns with the global aim of World Mental Health Day, observed annually on 10 October, which seeks to foster open conversations and greater understanding of mental wellbeing. The actresses’ message contributes to a growing movement to normalise mental health discussions, a field where support is increasingly accessible through tools like new AI-enabled mental health apps for residents in the region. By sharing their thoughts, they join a worldwide effort to reduce stigma and encourage people to prioritise their emotional health without judgement.
