The Dubai Stand Up Paddle event will return to Hatta Dam on November 8 and 9, expanding to a two-day format for its third edition. Organised as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge and presented by the Roads and Transport Authority, the event builds on the success of last year, which attracted over 2,330 participants to the area’s calm waters.

Fitness in a Scenic Setting

Set against the backdrop of the Hajar Mountains, the event offers a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to engage in physical activity away from the city. It is designed to accommodate all skill levels, from experienced paddleboarders to complete beginners.

All necessary equipment, including paddleboards, paddles, and life jackets, will be provided on-site. Safety briefings will be conducted before each session, and free stand-up paddle training will be available for both adults and families.

Expanded Activities and Inclusivity

This year’s programme includes complimentary kayaking for all registered participants. Single kayaks are available for those aged 17 and over, while double kayaks can be used by under-17s accompanied by an adult. These sessions can be booked on location on a first-come, first-served basis.

In line with the Dubai Fitness Challenge’s focus on inclusivity, the event will feature adaptive water activities for People of Determination. Specially trained teams will be on hand to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. As the day concludes, participants can join 30-minute Sunset Yoga sessions held on the water, led by qualified instructors.

A Commitment to Community Wellness

Officials noted the event’s role in promoting healthy living. Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, said the expansion reflects growing public enthusiasm. “The overwhelming response over the last two years showed the strength of community interest,” he stated. “By hosting it once again in the scenic setting of Hatta, we aim to further highlight its unique appeal as both a sporting and tourist destination.”

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, added that the event reinforces Dubai’s position as a centre for inclusive experiences. “This evolution not only highlights the community’s passion for outdoor fitness but also reinforces Dubai’s role as a hub for innovative, inclusive experiences that inspire lasting lifestyle changes,” he said.

The event encourages a full weekend retreat, with Hatta also offering activities such as ziplining, hiking, and local dining. Registrations are open on the Dubai Fitness Challenge website.
