ADNOC has secured three new agreements with Gecko Robotics to advance the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics into its operations while enhancing skills training for Emiratis. The deals, signed at the ENACT Majlis in Abu Dhabi, will enable ADNOC to deploy advanced technology across its gas operations, expand AI-driven analytics, and foster local talent development.

AI and Robotics in ADNOC’s Operations

The first agreement focuses on the deployment of the Cantilever operating system across ADNOC Gas assets. This system leverages AI and robotic inspection technologies to gather and analyse data from critical infrastructure, improving maintenance processes and predictive analytics. Through this partnership, AIQ, ADNOC’s joint venture with Presight, marks its entry into robotics. The collaboration aims to enhance asset reliability and reduce downtime across ADNOC’s gas facilities.

Expanding the Role of AI and Robotics

The second agreement between ADNOC and Gecko Robotics looks at extending the use of robotics and AI-powered analytics across both onshore and offshore facilities. The initiative also explores the possibility of local manufacturing of robotic systems in the UAE and the development of new AI applications tailored to ADNOC’s operational needs. This collaboration aligns with ADNOC’s broader goals of increasing efficiency and sustainability within its energy operations.

Training the Next Generation of Emirati Professionals

A third agreement brings together Gecko Robotics and the ADNOC Technical Academy to launch specialized training programmes for UAE Nationals. The programmes aim to equip Emiratis with skills in robotics, AI, and digital maintenance technologies. This initiative is part of ADNOC’s strategy to develop a highly skilled local workforce capable of leading the energy sector in the future.

Strategic Importance of the Partnerships

Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, ADNOC’s Managing Director and Group CEO, highlighted the strategic value of these agreements, stating, “ADNOC is harnessing the power of AI and advanced technology to transform the way we work, driving greater efficiency, safety and performance across our operations.” These partnerships align with ADNOC’s vision of becoming the world’s most AI-enabled energy company and further enhance the UAE’s position as a leader in energy innovation.

Jake Loosararian, CEO of Gecko Robotics, commented on the race to lead AI in the energy sector, stating, “The energy companies that win won’t just utilise technology they will become technology companies.” The collaboration seeks to combine human and machine performance to optimise energy operations through robotics and AI-powered data analysis.

The new agreements are a continuation of ADNOC’s efforts to integrate cutting-edge technology into its operations, ensuring greater sustainability and performance within the UAE’s energy sector.
