Abu Dhabi is taking a significant step towards global healthcare innovation with the launch of Future Health – A Global Initiative by Abu Dhabi, under the guidance of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. The initiative aims to transform Abu Dhabi Global Health Week from a one-off annual event into a continuous, collaborative platform that fosters international cooperation and innovation in healthcare.
The Shift to a Year-Round Platform
The Future Health initiative marks a shift from a once-a-year gathering to an ongoing global network designed to support the development and scaling of health solutions. It will include co-creation of programmes, global research projects, and continuous dialogue sessions across sectors such as policy, technology, and investment. These efforts are meant to bring together global leaders to design, fund, and implement health solutions that support longer, healthier lives worldwide.
In this context, the Future Health platform will focus on four major themes:
– Longevity and Precision Health
– Health System Resilience and Sustainability
– Digital Health and AI
– Investment in Life Sciences
Abu Dhabi’s leadership in healthcare innovation, particularly in the fields of AI and genomics, will be key to shaping these discussions and developments. The platform’s aim is to build sustained global collaboration, leading to real-world impacts in public health.
Key Initiatives and Annual Summit
Future Health will go beyond its flagship annual event, the Future Health Summit, which is scheduled to take place from 7–9 April 2026 at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi. The event will continue to serve as a significant meeting point for healthcare leaders but will also be part of a broader, ongoing exchange of ideas and initiatives. This expanded focus is expected to support the continuous flow of innovative research, public health advancements, and collaborative projects.
Among the objectives of Future Health are:
– Advancing pioneering clinical practices in longevity medicine
– Conducting foresight research to identify future health priorities
– Hosting regular global dialogues for cross-sector collaboration
– Publishing reports on the latest developments in global health
Abu Dhabi’s Role in Global Healthcare
Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, expressed the global ambition of Future Health, saying, “Future Health is a global invitation to collaborate year-round in shaping a healthier future for all.” Dr Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, reinforced this vision by highlighting Abu Dhabi’s role in shaping a model of healthcare that is inclusive, innovative, and sustainable.
Abu Dhabi has already attracted over 500 speakers from nearly 100 countries, and it has hosted more than 25,000 participants. The city has also launched the world’s first Declaration on Longevity and Precision Medicine and hosts one of only four global vaccine distribution hubs, which strengthens health security on a regional level. In the past two years, over 50 agreements have been signed to advance clinical research, vaccine development, and digital health innovation.
Partnering for Global Impact
Future Health is supported by several high-profile founding partners, including M42, Mubadala Bio, PureHealth, and the Institute for Healthier Living Abu Dhabi (IHLAD). These partners are crucial in driving long-term commitments and providing measurable health impact through incubation, research, and innovation. In addition, Mediclinic acts as a strategic partner, and Burjeel Holdings is a thematic partner, further strengthening the initiative’s global reach.
Through these collaborations, Abu Dhabi is reinforcing its position as a hub for global healthcare innovation, driving international partnerships, and delivering sustainable solutions to address critical health challenges. The Future Health initiative is set to play a pivotal role in shaping a healthier, more resilient future for communities around the world.
