Sophos is playing a pivotal role in advancing the UAE’s vision for a secure and resilient digital economy. Joe Levy, CEO of Sophos, emphasises the company’s commitment to supporting businesses in protecting their digital environments by balancing prevention with resilience. This is achieved through Sophos’s AI-driven Sophos Central platform and round-the-clock Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services, which allow enterprises to detect, respond, and neutralise threats swiftly and accurately.

Strengthening Core Sectors

The UAE’s cybersecurity strategy touches several critical sectors, including government, finance, and manufacturing. Sophos’s technology helps to improve security across these areas, thereby enhancing overall supply chain resilience. Their recent investment in a local data centre is a step further in demonstrating their dedication to data sovereignty, regulatory compliance, and bolstering protection for the UAE’s vital sectors.

In line with this, the Sophos State of Ransomware 2025 report reveals that 49 per cent of UAE organisations faced ransomware attacks, highlighting the growing need for advanced cyber resilience. By combining global threat intelligence with regional expertise, Sophos is fortifying the UAE’s digital infrastructure and ensuring that innovation can continue in a secure and sustainable manner.

Integrating Secureworks Capabilities

Sophos’s integration with Secureworks has been a significant milestone. According to Levy, the integration of the two teams, platforms, and capabilities has proceeded smoothly. The collaboration has led to an accelerated delivery of combined services and has proven effective in retaining key talent.

One key development is the integration of Sophos Endpoint with Secureworks’ Taegis XDR and MDR platforms. This integration has been well-received by security teams, allowing them to streamline technology, reduce operational inefficiencies, and improve security. Customers have already started to notice the benefits of enhanced visibility and stronger security through these unified systems. Moreover, Sophos has launched new advisory services, drawing from Secureworks’ extensive experience in the field. These services aim to offer strategic security guidance to organisations that lack a dedicated Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

Cyber Hygiene: The Foundation of Security

Levy also emphasises the importance of mastering the basics of cybersecurity. While sophisticated threats such as 0day attacks exist, most organisations fall victim to simpler vulnerabilities. Attackers typically exploit weak points such as exposed remote access endpoints, improperly configured endpoint protection, outdated service accounts, and insufficient use of multi-factor authentication.

“Attackers will always find and take paths of least resistance before resorting to more expensive methods,” Levy explains. Therefore, prioritising basic security hygiene is crucial in reducing vulnerabilities and avoiding becoming an easy target for cybercriminals.

Sophos’s work in the UAE aligns with the country’s broader digital transformation efforts, ensuring that security remains a top priority as the nation continues to innovate. As organisations navigate the complexities of modern cybersecurity, Sophos’s blend of cutting-edge technology and local insight provides essential protection against the growing tide of cyber threats.
