Saudi German Hospital (SGH) Dubai has launched its first International Dental Workshop, a significant initiative aimed at advancing specialised medical training within the UAE. The programme, focused on maxillofacial reconstruction, underscores the hospital’s commitment to improving clinical expertise and expanding access to complex care for the community.

Advanced Training in Maxillofacial Surgery

Organised by the hospital’s Academic Affairs and Dental Departments, the workshop is led by the internationally recognised expert Professor Maurice Mommaerts. As a leading specialist in craniofacial and facial surgery, Prof. Mommaerts is guiding a session designed to equip local clinicians with global best practices in maxillofacial procedures. Participants in the intensive training will earn 6.5 Continuing Medical Education (CME) points, directly contributing to higher standards of patient care.

The initiative is part of SGH Dubai’s broader mission to provide advanced dental and surgical training. By hosting such events, the hospital aims to improve public awareness of oral and facial health while reducing the need for patients to travel abroad for complex surgeries.

A Commitment to Community Well-being

Hospital leadership emphasised that the workshop aligns with the core purpose of the institution. Dr Ahmed Eissa, Group CEO of Saudi German Health UAE, stated, “Saudi German Health has always been dedicated to serving people and enhancing the well-being of the communities we belong to. By strengthening the knowledge and capabilities of our clinicians, we are ensuring safer, more advanced, and more compassionate care for the families who rely on us.”

Dr Abdullah Alfreihi, Group Dental Director at Saudi German Health UAE, added that the training has a direct impact on patients’ lives. “Advanced maxillofacial reconstruction significantly improves patients’ quality of life, and by providing international-standard training locally, we are expanding access to high-level care across the UAE,” he explained.

Prof. Mommaerts praised the hospital’s focus on education. “When a healthcare institution prioritises training and education, the benefits reach far beyond the hospital; they touch the entire community,” he said.

Strengthening the UAE’s Healthcare System

By localising advanced medical training, SGH Dubai is actively contributing to the UAE’s healthcare ecosystem. Such programmes are vital for building a sustainable and highly skilled medical workforce. This focus on local development is a key theme in the region’s health sector, reflected in events like the Qatar International Medical Devices & Healthcare Exhibition, which also aims to advance regional medical capabilities.

Through continued educational efforts, Saudi German Hospital Dubai reaffirms its dedication to clinical empowerment and delivering exceptional medical services. The workshop represents a clear step towards elevating the standard of specialised care available to individuals and families throughout the country.
