Qatar’s substantial investment in innovation and digital technology is set to positively influence its property market, with the country aiming to become a premier regional real estate destination.

Engineer Khaled bin Ahmed al-Obaidli, chairman of the Qatar Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Aqarat), confirmed the sector is undergoing a digital transformation. The primary goal is to simplify the investor experience and establish Qatar as a central hub for property development.

Digital and AI Integration

Al-Obaidli explained that the adoption of artificial intelligence and digital platforms is fundamental to the sector’s future. He described a vision where AI-powered systems can guide potential clients through property selection based on their budget, family size, and preferred location.

“We want people’s experience to be easy, clear, and user-friendly,” he said, adding that such systems should also direct users to promising investment opportunities in the country. He confirmed that Aqarat, in collaboration with other government ministries, is investing heavily in creating these tools. “We are in the process of developing AI-powered platforms, AI agents, and other similar innovative technologies,” al-Obaidli stated.

Forum and Industry Awards

The upcoming third edition of the Qatar Real Estate Forum will feature Saudi Arabia as the “host country” and introduce the inaugural ‘Qatar Real Estate Award 2025’. The forum is scheduled to run from 12 to 14 October at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, alongside Cityscape Qatar 2025. More than 50 experts from Qatar and abroad are expected to participate.

“We hope for more partnerships between our local companies and the international companies that are expected to participate,” al-Obaidli said. “We aim to provide a platform where landmark iconic ideas can be transformed into reality.”

The new award programme is designed to recognise excellence and innovation within the property sector. According to an Aqarat statement, the awards will honour pioneering projects that help position Qatar as a leading global investment destination, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Award categories will include ‘Best Residential Project’, judged on quality of life and resident satisfaction, and the ‘Best Commercial/Office Real Estate Project’, which considers the work environment and digital infrastructure. Another key category, the ‘Best Sustainable Urban Development Project’, will be assessed on criteria including environmental certification, the use of smart systems, and readiness for future technologies, reflecting a growing focus on urban innovation.
