Qatar Charity has launched a significant humanitarian initiative to aid those displaced from Al Fasher in Sudan to the Al Dabba area in the Northern State. The Qatar Al Khair Camp project, which is supported by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), aims to provide essential services including shelter, food, clean water, and health and education support over the next three months.

Relief Efforts in Northern State

The initiative comes in response to the increasing number of displaced families in the region. Othman Ahmed Othman, the Acting Governor of Northern State, praised Qatar Charity’s swift and effective response to the humanitarian crisis. He highlighted that the provision of shelter, food, and medical care would alleviate some of the immediate challenges facing those displaced. Local authorities have granted approval for the establishment of the camp, which will serve as a key site for continued relief efforts. Othman also expressed gratitude for Qatar’s ongoing support in Sudan, recognising Qatar Charity as an important partner in the region’s disaster relief operations.

Ongoing Support from Qatari Authorities

Manal Makawi, the Minister of Social Affairs for Northern State, acknowledged that Qatari aid had been among the first to arrive for Sudanese communities in need. She noted Qatar Charity’s consistent presence at the forefront of emergency response operations. As preparations for the Qatar Al Khair Camp initiative are underway, Tariq Mohy Al Din, Acting Director of Qatar Charity’s office in Sudan, outlined that field teams were already beginning their work. The camp will focus on key areas such as shelter, food security, distribution of non-food items, and providing access to safe drinking water.

Immediate Relief Distribution

Qatar Charity has already begun distributing essential relief items, including food baskets, tents, blankets, floor mats, and hygiene kits for families. Over the course of the next three months, the charity plans to deliver thousands of food parcels and daily meals for displaced families. In addition, shelter kits, hygiene packs, cooking utensils, potable water, and mobile health clinics will be provided. A temporary school will also be set up to ensure displaced children continue their education during this challenging time.

The camp’s operations will be closely supported by QFFD, and the initiative aims to address the most urgent needs of those affected. Qatar Charity has called on donors and the public to contribute to its Relief for Sudan campaign, aiming to support the displaced families in Al Fasher and surrounding areas.

Qatar Charity’s work in Sudan is part of its broader humanitarian efforts in regions affected by crises. As the charity continues to assist Sudanese communities, it maintains its commitment to providing aid and improving the lives of those in need. For those interested in supporting, contributions to the ongoing relief initiatives are encouraged, furthering the collective effort to alleviate the suffering of displaced families.
