Dubai South Properties has announced the launch of South Bay Mall, a new retail and lifestyle destination located in the heart of the master development’s Residential District. The project aims to serve the area’s growing population with a curated mix of shopping, dining, and leisure facilities. Construction is scheduled to begin soon, with further details about the opening date and tenants to be released at a later stage.
Mall Design and Key Features
The new mall will span approximately 200,000 square feet across three levels. Its design incorporates open-air walkways and rooftop terraces that will offer scenic views overlooking the South Bay lagoon, creating a relaxed environment for visitors.
South Bay Mall is planned to house 60 retail outlets, two anchor stores, and a premium food hall. The development will also include a range of amenities to support community wellbeing, such as a gym, spa, and a clinic. A clubhouse and parking for more than 400 vehicles are also part of the plan.
A Hub for the South Bay Community
Officials stated the mall is designed to become a vibrant and convenient hub for residents. It is a key component of the wider South Bay development, a fully integrated community focused on connectivity. The broader project includes more than 800 villas and townhouses, over 200 waterfront mansions, and a one-kilometre-long lagoon surrounded by parks and promenades. This focus on integrated living reflects a wider trend, as other developers also work to strengthen their presence in Dubai’s residential complexes.
Strategic Vision for Dubai South
Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, described the launch as an “important step” in the developer’s mission to establish a fully connected city. He emphasised that the initiative aligns with Dubai South’s vision of creating people-centric communities built for sustainable, long-term growth. The area continues to attract significant investment, highlighted by the recent decision from US giant GE to step up its Dubai aviation presence with a new facility.
The addition of South Bay Mall is set to significantly enhance the lifestyle offerings within Dubai South. By bringing together retail, wellness, and leisure experiences, the project will serve as a central point for the neighbourhood and support the continued expansion of the district.
