Media City Qatar and Qatar University hosted the second edition of the Euronews Academy Bootcamp, a three-day event focused on digital and mobile journalism. Held at St. Regis Marsa Arabia, the bootcamp aimed to equip participants with hands-on skills and knowledge that are critical in today’s fast-paced media environment.

Practical Training for Media Students

The first two days of the program featured a series of interactive workshops led by industry experts. Students from Qatar University’s College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mass Communication, were introduced to essential topics in modern journalism, including digital storytelling, mobile reporting, and social media strategies for audience engagement. The sessions allowed participants to explore the latest tools and techniques for effective media production and storytelling, preparing them for the demands of a digital-first world.

Collaboration for Media Innovation

On the final day, participants had the opportunity to consolidate their learning in a collaborative setting. Instructors and representatives from Qatar University, Media City Qatar, and Euronews joined forces to lead a session that encouraged teamwork and practical application of the skills learned. The session aimed to bring together different perspectives and create an environment of shared learning.

Tevfik Ergun, Director of Strategy and Excellence at Media City Qatar, highlighted the initiative’s role in fostering innovation and collaboration in the media sector. “Through our partnership with Qatar University and Euronews, the bootcamp provides opportunities for emerging talent to explore new ideas, gain exposure to industry standards, and contribute to shaping the next generation of media professionals,” Ergun explained. He also pointed out that initiatives like this align with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 by nurturing a creative and skilled workforce to strengthen the country’s media ecosystem.

A Global Perspective on Media Training

Fatima Al Kubaisi, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Qatar University, spoke to the significance of the program for the university’s academic community. “This program with Media City Qatar and Euronews provides our academic community with vital global media expertise,” she said. Al Kubaisi stressed that the bootcamp encourages critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving, essential skills for building a diversified economy. It aligns with the university’s mission to cultivate individuals who can positively impact society.

Strengthening Qatar’s Media Position

This year’s bootcamp builds upon the success of the previous Euronews Business Media Training. It underscores the shared commitment of Media City Qatar, Qatar University, and Euronews to prepare participants for successful careers in the ever-evolving media landscape. The initiative also contributes to advancing Qatar’s position as a regional media hub, offering valuable exposure to global media practices and industry standards.

Through programs like this, Qatar continues to nurture a generation of media professionals who are equipped to navigate the challenges of the digital era, positioning the country as a leading force in the Middle East’s media sector.
