Media City Qatar and Euronews have unveiled four new original programmes set to be produced in Doha. This marks the latest chapter in their ongoing collaboration, which began in 2021, and further strengthens Qatar’s role as a hub for global content production. The new shows aim to broaden Euronews’ coverage of Qatar and the wider region, aligning with Qatar’s long-term vision to diversify its economy through creative industries.

New Programmes: Qatar’s Stories on the Global Stage

The four new productions include Qatar in Motion, a series that goes beyond headlines to highlight the progress and people driving change in the country; Grand Voyager, a travel show that mixes famous destinations with lesser-known treasures; Cult, which explores the cultural scene of art, music, fashion, and entertainment; and Focus, a deep dive into business developments in Qatar and their global connections. These shows will be broadcast internationally, bringing fresh perspectives on the region to a global audience.

Strengthening Qatar’s Media Landscape

Eng. Jassim Mohamed Al Khori, CEO of Media City Qatar, commented on the partnership’s significance. “Over the past four years, we’ve collaborated with Euronews to bring world-class media expertise to Qatar. This new initiative extends our strategic partnership, producing original content from Doha that showcases Qatar’s rich stories to the world. Our efforts are aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which seeks to drive diversification through creative industries and support the next generation of media talent.”

Euronews’ Chairman, Pedro Vargas David, highlighted the growing global importance of the Middle East. “The region’s stories are of increasing significance and transcend borders. Through our partnership with Media City Qatar, we are deepening our presence here to share these stories with a global audience. This collaboration allows us to showcase the diversity and innovation of Qatar, reinforcing our mission to connect cultures and bring global stories to life,” said Vargas David.

A Proven Track Record

Since the inception of their partnership in 2021, Media City Qatar and Euronews have co-produced five programmes, including The Exchange, Qatar 365, Scenes, Football Now, and The Dialogue. These shows have been successful, generating 11.3 billion TV impacts and 58 million views on YouTube, reaching an annual audience of 61 million.

The success of these projects sets the stage for the next phase of their partnership. In October 2024, Media City Qatar also joined forces with Qatar University to offer the Euronews Business Media Training programme, providing students with hands-on experience in journalism and broadcasting. Additionally, Media City Qatar supports an international internship programme that connects Qatari students with Euronews’ global offices, further enriching the country’s media ecosystem.

Looking Ahead: Qatar’s Growing Media Influence

As Media City Qatar continues to develop its vision of a vibrant media ecosystem, the new collaborations with Euronews contribute to shaping the future of storytelling in the region. By connecting local talent with global platforms, Qatar is poised to strengthen its position on the international media stage, offering compelling narratives that resonate with audiences worldwide.
