Global technology leaders, industry pioneers, and developers converged at Dubai’s Museum of the Future on November 5 for the third annual Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) MEA 2025. The summit served as a platform to strengthen business collaboration across the Middle East, Africa, and China while exploring new avenues for sustainable digital growth.

Fostering Collaboration and Innovation

Jerry Liu, Chairman of Huawei Technologies UAE, opened the event by outlining the company’s mission to connect global ecosystems and foster sustainable innovation. His remarks emphasised Huawei’s dedication to empowering regional developers and partners to build smarter, more connected digital experiences for users. The summit’s agenda focused on building bridges between local and global markets, a goal shared by other regional events designed to connect talent and investment.

The conference also featured an address from Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Sultan Bin Shakhboot Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates Esports Federation. He highlighted a shared commitment with HUAWEI AppGallery to expand the regional esports ecosystem, commending the platform for supporting developers with localised tools and diversified monetisation options.

Celebrating Strategic Partnerships

A key part of the summit was the Huawei Partner Awards Ceremony, which honoured organisations for their contributions to innovation and ecosystem development. The awards recognised achievements across several categories.

Key Award Recipients

  • Strategic Alliance Award: Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, Emirates, and Yalla Group Limited.
  • Innovation Partner of the Year: The Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi (DCT) and Anghami.
  • Collaboration Excellence Award: Dubai Police and Dubai Holding Real Estate.
  • Seamless Experience Award: Shahid, Talabat, Approcks, and Sahm Capital Financial.
  • Cross-Border Vision Award: Jetour.
  • AppGallery Growth Excellence Award: Level Infinite and ONEMT.

The recognitions highlighted the collective spirit of innovation and the strength of Huawei’s expanding partner network in the MEA region. Case studies presented by partners including Emirates and Anghami demonstrated how collaboration within the Huawei ecosystem is elevating user experiences.

Merging Technology with Digital Art

A centrepiece of the opening session was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA). Ali Khalifa bin Thalith Al Humairi, Secretary General at HIPA, spoke on how technology can connect cultures through digital art.

He announced the launch of a special collection of watch faces inspired by the identity of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The designs feature the emblem of his sports team, F3, representing a fusion of Emirati identity and global technology. Al Humairi described the watch faces as symbolic messages that capture the ambitious and creative spirit of Dubai.

The HDC MEA 2025 summit reinforced Huawei’s vision to empower local ecosystems and drive sustainable growth through collaboration. By uniting industry leaders and fostering meaningful partnerships, the conference has solidified its position as one of the region’s most influential technology gatherings, shaping the digital economy across the Middle East and Africa.
