Restaurants across the UAE are marking the 78th Independence Days of Pakistan and India with a host of culinary celebrations. From 14 to 15 August, diners can find special menus, themed dishes, and significant discounts honouring the rich flavours and heritage of the subcontinent. The offerings range from fine-dining experiences to casual street food, providing numerous ways to commemorate the occasions.

Pakistani Independence Day Discounts

Several restaurants are offering promotions to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day on 14 August. Lal Qila is providing a 14 per cent discount on all food items, excluding beverages and chocolates, across all its UAE branches from 14 to 16 August. Similarly, Goga Lahori will offer a 14 per cent discount on the entire meal for diners on 14 August, promising bold Lahori flavours in a festive atmosphere.

Indian Independence Day Set Menus

For those seeking a more curated experience, a number of establishments are presenting special set menus. At JA Lake View Hotel, Kinara by Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna will serve an exclusive menu on 15 August from 6:30 pm. The evening also features live chai preparations from Project Chaiwala, served in traditional kulhad cups. The Michelin Guide in Dubai has brought increased attention to chefs like Khanna, highlighting the city’s diverse culinary scene.

Masala Library at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is offering a three-course menu with modern flair on 15 August, while Purani Dilli at Four Points by Sheraton will feature a special three-course menu inspired by the Indian flag’s colours, accompanied by a live band playing patriotic music.

Lavish Buffets and Thalis

Celebratory buffets and traditional thalis are a popular choice for marking the occasion. The Boulvar restaurant at Radisson Blu Hotel is hosting a sprawling Indian buffet on 15 August, complete with biryanis, curries, and tandoori items, alongside live Dhol and Bhangra performances. At the Armani Hotel, Armani/Amal will present a specially curated vegetarian Sawan Thali.

For a budget-friendly option, Sthan is offering its Tiranga Thali in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions from 14 to 17 August. At Taj Dubai, Bombay Brasserie invites guests to a three-hour feast of regional Indian favourites with live music on the evening of 15 August.

Themed Dishes and Complimentary Treats

Many restaurants are creating special dishes to honour the day. Punjab Grill is serving a patriotic Chicken Tikka Sampler and Paneer Roulade designed to reflect the colours of the Indian flag. At Naya in Mövenpick Hotel JLT, a three-day celebration from 15 to 17 August will feature a tricolour Pistachio Malai Motichur dessert and live performances. The Crossing will also offer a sweet gesture, providing a complimentary Ghewar, a classic Rajasthani dessert, to all diners on 15 August.

These diverse culinary events provide a festive way for residents and visitors to participate in the independence celebrations. The special menus and offers reflect the deep cultural ties and shared heritage celebrated across the Emirates, making it one of the top dining experiences in Dubai and Abu Dhabi this August.
