Lammah Al Bahar Festival in Al Dhafra brought together culture, fitness, and entertainment on the shores of Abu Dhabi, transforming the Al Mugheirah Beach into a hub for visitors of all ages. Over four months, more than 50,000 people experienced Emirati traditions, wellness activities, and live performances, making the festival a key event for the region. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the festival has not only celebrated the area’s cultural heritage but also helped establish Al Dhafra as a year-round destination.

A Unique Cultural Experience

The festival highlighted the rich cultural history of Al Dhafra, located in Abu Dhabi’s western region. Known for its deep-rooted traditions like camel racing and falconry, the region has long been a vital part of the UAE’s heritage. The Lammah Al Bahar Festival showcased local culture through authentic Emirati food, handcrafted products, and live performances. Guests could also visit an Emirati market featuring locally-made crafts and products, adding a personal touch to the event.

According to Mohamed Ali Almarar, Director of Regional Activations at ADIO, the festival aimed to shift perceptions of Al Dhafra as a remote area and position it as a must-see destination. “By offering activities rooted in the region’s traditions, we’ve been able to showcase what makes Al Dhafra special,” he said. Visitors enjoyed a variety of experiences, from adrenaline-pumping activities to moments of relaxation on the beach.

Fitness and Wellness at the Festival

Lammah Al Bahar attracted sports enthusiasts and fitness lovers alike with its diverse range of activities. The festival included everything from kayaking and volleyball to beach football and padel. Ramadan saw a series of tournaments and challenges, with beach volleyball and padel competitions among the crowd favourites.

The festival also offered the Neon Glow Run, a high-energy event that brought the community together to celebrate fitness in a family-friendly environment. Aimed at all fitness levels, the festival’s sporting events provided something for everyone, whether they were competitive athletes or casual participants.

For those seeking balance, the festival embraced wellness activities, promoting recovery alongside physical activity. The Champions Zone, a dedicated space for guests to book courts for their favourite sports, further solidified the festival’s position as a prime destination for fitness and fun in the UAE.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Lammah Al Bahar

After a successful first season, organisers are already preparing for a second run of the festival. Plans are underway for an even larger celebration, with new activities and cultural events lined up to make the next season even more exciting. The continued growth of the festival signals Al Dhafra’s emerging status as a must-visit spot on the UAE’s cultural and entertainment map. As the region becomes a vibrant venue for both visitors and residents, Lammah Al Bahar is expected to remain a key fixture on the Abu Dhabi events calendar.
