His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has highlighted the country’s growing influence in shaping the future of global aviation. During a visit to the Dubai Airshow 2025 exhibition at Dubai World Central on Thursday, he reviewed the latest breakthroughs in aerospace, air mobility, and defence presented by international exhibitors.

UAE’s Expanding Role in Aviation

Sheikh Mohammed stated that the Dubai Airshow has evolved into one of the world’s most significant aviation events, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers. He noted that the platform plays a major role in defining the next era of flight, which is being driven by rapid technological advances and strong international collaboration.

He emphasised the UAE’s efforts to build a supportive economic and regulatory environment. According to Sheikh Mohammed, these measures continue to attract global manufacturers, encourage research and development, and fuel innovation across both the civil and military aviation sectors.

A Global Hub for Innovation

The Vice President described the aviation industry as a key engine of national economic growth. He said the Dubai Airshow helps strengthen international partnerships and supports projects that reinforce the emirate’s position as a global centre for advanced aviation technologies. The event also reflects the confidence that global companies have in Dubai as a reliable base for testing and deploying future-ready solutions, a trend exemplified by the decision of firms like the US giant GE to step up its Dubai aviation presence.

Sheikh Mohammed also stressed the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in adopting new technologies. He noted that Dubai has always embraced a partnership-led model that encourages government bodies and industry players to work together, accelerating the rollout of new systems.

Airshow Tour and Demonstrations

During his tour, Sheikh Mohammed explored multiple pavilions showcasing smart and sustainable aviation solutions, advanced aircraft, drones, and emerging technologies. Among the innovations on display were new systems designed to improve passenger journeys, such as the seamless travel and smart services unveiled by GDRFA Dubai at the event.

He also attended live aerial displays featuring the UAE aerobatic team, Al Fursan, alongside demonstrations by international teams with next-generation military and commercial aircraft.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai; Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Airports and Emirates; and Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee. The visit reinforces the UAE’s commitment to investing in aviation infrastructure and talent, ensuring national professionals play a leading role in the industry’s future.
