Dubai Police and the Department of Finance (DOF) have formalised their partnership to drive digital payment innovation across government services. The newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aligns with Dubai’s “Cashless Strategy,” aiming to enhance safe, efficient financial transactions and smooth, secure digital payment experiences for users.
The agreement was signed by Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, Director General of DOF. Senior officials from both sides were also present at the ceremony.
Strengthening Digital Infrastructure
Lieutenant General Al Marri emphasised that the MoU represents a significant step in Dubai Police’s ongoing digital transformation efforts. The collaboration supports the city’s broader vision of a forward-thinking economy powered by digital solutions. He highlighted that strengthening the digital payment infrastructure would not only improve efficiency but also boost customer satisfaction and transparency across government services.
“Advanced digital payment channels play a key role in building a flexible service ecosystem, reducing cash reliance, and fostering the sustainability of Dubai’s digital economy,” Al Marri stated.
Pushing Dubai’s Vision Forward
Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh echoed the importance of this partnership, noting that it reflects the integration that defines Dubai’s governance model. He added that the collaboration aligns with the emirate’s goal of positioning itself as a global leader in digital financial transformation.
“This MoU supports the leadership’s aspiration to position Dubai as a global benchmark for smart financial transformation. By developing secure and advanced payment systems, we aim to improve government efficiency and provide an enhanced customer experience in line with the objectives of the Dubai Cashless Strategy,” said Al Saleh.
Areas of Collaboration
Under the MoU, both Dubai Police and DOF will focus on several key areas, including sharing knowledge and expertise related to cashless transformations, leveraging data and modern financial technologies, and setting up dedicated working groups to drive innovation. The collaboration will also focus on raising awareness about the benefits of digital payments and ensuring the safe use of financial systems.
In addition, both parties will work on enhancing existing digital infrastructures to support secure, sustainable, and efficient payment operations across Dubai’s government services. They will also collaborate on educational and training programmes to build awareness and expertise in digital payment technologies.
This move further aligns with the broader trend of digitisation in Dubai, reflecting the growing focus on digital services as part of the city’s push for a more innovative, tech-driven future. As Dubai continues to lead the region in digital advancements, such collaborations are expected to set new benchmarks for secure and seamless financial transactions across government services.
