Officials from Qatar and Syria have met to discuss enhancing co-operation in endowment management, with a particular focus on adopting modern electronic systems and artificial intelligence. The bilateral meeting followed a visit by a Syrian ministerial delegation to Qatar’s General Directorate of Endowments, aiming to share expertise and explore new avenues for collaboration.

Showcasing Qatari Endowment Projects

During the visit, the Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments, Eng. Hassan Abdullah al-Marzouqi, delivered a presentation on the history and legal framework governing endowments in Qatar. He provided an overview of how these charitable foundations have developed within the country and their significance in community work.

The Syrian minister was also shown models of Qatar’s key endowment projects. A notable example was the Jabal Thuaileb Endowment Project, which stands as one of the largest initiatives of its kind in the nation. These projects serve as practical examples of modern endowment management and its potential for societal benefit.

Focus on Digital and AI Initiatives

Following the initial presentation, the two sides held a formal meeting to discuss specific areas for future partnership. A central theme was the integration of technology into endowment administration. Qatar’s “digital” endowment initiative was a key topic, designed to align institutional work with rapid technological advancements. This approach is part of a wider trend where Qatar stresses for stronger cybersecurity, wider digital cooperation between nations to modernise its operations.

The discussions covered the use of advanced electronic systems to improve efficiency and transparency in managing endowment funds. The role of artificial intelligence in developing both institutional and community-focused projects was also explored, reflecting a growing interest in how technology can support philanthropic goals.
