Gulf Medical University (GMU) has inaugurated the Thumbay AI Clinic, a pioneering innovation space designed to integrate artificial intelligence into healthcare education and clinical practice. The facility, launched in partnership with Zoom Video Communications and HP | Poly, marks a significant step in the university’s digital transformation journey. Dr Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group, attended the launch as the chief guest.

The Thumbay AI Clinic is a first-of-its-kind learning environment where students, faculty, and healthcare professionals can explore the practical applications of AI in diagnostics, telemedicine, and collaborative patient care. These functions operate on Zoom’s HIPAA-compliant platform, which ensures the secure handling of patient information and enables hybrid models of care that connect hospitals, classrooms, and clinics.
To create an immersive learning experience, the facility integrates HP | Poly’s high-fidelity audio systems, intelligent cameras, and interactive touchscreens. This technology allows for seamless, real-time interaction between physical and virtual environments, simulating the dynamic nature of contemporary healthcare settings.
