Following a five-month renovation, the world’s largest choreographed fountain is set to resume its performances on Wednesday, 1 October. As visitors prepare for the return of the Dubai Fountain’s water, light, and music displays, securing a good vantage point away from the crowds is key. From public walkways to exclusive restaurant terraces, here are some of the best spots to watch the show.
Public Viewing Areas
The promenade around Burj Lake is the most common viewing area, but the sections outside the Dubai Mall and on the bridge to Souk Al Bahar become congested quickly. For a less crowded experience, the walkway on the Souk Al Bahar side of the lake often provides clearer sightlines. Walking along the lakefront towards the Dubai Opera also offers good views away from the main crowds.
For an elevated perspective, the balcony of the Apple Store inside the Dubai Mall is a popular spot. To get even closer to the action, the Dubai Fountain boardwalk, a floating platform just nine metres from the jets, offers an unobstructed view for a small fee.
Dining with a View
A restaurant reservation can provide a comfortable seat for several of the half-hourly shows. Souk Al Bahar, across the bridge from the mall, has venues that serve alcohol and offer some of the best perspectives. Establishments like Time Out Market, the pan-Asian Karma Kafe, and the Arabic restaurant Abd El Wahab are popular choices, but booking an outdoor table in advance is essential.
The Dubai Mall also has numerous restaurants with fountain views, though they do not serve alcohol. GIA and Bebabel in the Fashion Avenue extension are notable options, along with Mausam for Indian cuisine. Other restaurants in the area include Thiptara, known for its Thai food at Palace Downtown, and Solara, a Mediterranean spot at Address Dubai Mall. For more casual dining, cafés such as Joe’s Cafe on an upper level of the mall provide good elevated views.
