Dubai-based Blue Ocean Corporation has been ranked number one globally for supply chain training and consulting by the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), the world’s largest professional body for the sector. To mark the achievement, the company has announced a free fundamentals programme for learners worldwide.
The award was presented to Dr Sathya Menon, Group CEO of Blue Ocean Corporation, at the ASCM CHAINge 2025 Conference in Columbus, Ohio. He received the honour from Douglas Kent, ASCM’s executive vice-president for corporate and strategic alliances, and Michael Bunge, the association’s chair-elect.
Dr Menon attributed the success to the UAE’s strategic focus on developing its knowledge economy and human capital. “This is a milestone achievement for Blue Ocean,” he said, noting that government initiatives have helped position the country as a leader in innovation and global competitiveness within the supply chain and logistics industry.
UAE’s Strategic Vision
Dr Menon highlighted several national strategies that have reinforced the UAE’s status as a global logistics hub, including the UAE Logistics Strategy 2050, the Dubai Silk Road initiative, and Operation 300bn. He stressed that achieving such ambitious goals requires significant investment in education.
“Such an exponential growth vision will require investing in education, as lack of skilled professionals in supply chain management could slow innovation and limit global competitiveness,” Dr Menon explained.
The ASCM ranking recognises Blue Ocean’s two decades of work in developing talent across more than 75 countries. The company, established in the UAE over 30 years ago, has a global presence with offices in the UK, India, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.
Free Education Initiative
In celebration of the ranking, Blue Ocean launched a Free Supply Chain Management Fundamentals Program. The initiative aligns with the company’s mission of “Supply Chain Education for All” and aims to provide essential knowledge to students, young professionals, and new entrants to the industry, irrespective of their location or academic background.
“Each and every economy and individual is impacted by supply chains. By offering free training in fundamentals, we aim to equip learners everywhere with skills that shape global trade and daily life,” Dr Menon said. He added that the global number one ranking “reinforces our responsibility to make knowledge more accessible.”
The call for greater skills development was echoed at the conference by Gina M. Raimondo, former US Secretary of Commerce. “Supply chain disruptions are not going away,” she stated. “The only way forward is to build resilience by empowering people with new skills and by embracing technology.”
Founded in Dubai in 1998, Blue Ocean Corporation has trained over 500,000 professionals globally. The company holds Superbrand status and has received more than 30 international awards, including the Dubai Quality Appreciation Award. This latest recognition from ASCM further solidifies its position in global supply chain education and supports the UAE’s vision for leadership in international trade.
