Mississippi Gulf Coast Fishing Report
In South Mississippi
Warmer weather is changing conditions daily.
The fish pods are scattered but continue to ease on to flats and fish can be caught on the edge of drop offs and holes as the water temps warm. The last couple of weeks have been cool in the mornings but when the tide is high and moving is when to get them biting.
The bays are clearing but with windy conditions keeping water murky on the bank, fishing out from the bank will be more productive.
The main focus for nearshore anglers continues to be speckled trout, white trout, redfish and flounder.
Inshore
While day time temps are in the mid and high 70's redfish, flounder and trout fishing has been steady.
The fish have moved into the bays and in the gulleys next to the bars in the Sound.
Early morning when the tide is moving and mid day when the air temp warms is the time to gett'em.
Although some parts of the river systems are murky, fishing is good in the dead lakes.
Near Singing River Island and up salty bayous the sheephead, bull reds, drum and flounder are biting
mostly hard to find live bait ,cut bait and dead shrimp.
Big numbers of white trout and flounder are being caught out on front beach and in the river.
As water temperatures are still cool jigs and lures will be productive along deep drop offs.
Working lures slowly will usually bring bigger and more fish.
With much of the attention focused on the bays and rivers
Reports are that nice redfish are being caught on Horn island, Chandeleur and Isle au Pitre!
Offshore
